"The flavour of the woodfire pizza here is absolutely scrumptious. I have had pizza’s from many pizza locations here and abroad including in Italy. This one RATES very highly for an Australian made Pizza. Possibly amongst the best along with three other distant locations. Gas heated pizza parlours can’t complete with Hungry Cow’s woodfire quality. Give it a try and you’ll be VERY IMPRESSED!! Reasonable cost."

"New management have taken over this burger joint and they have a vision for lots more than just burgers. Outdoor dining and a breakfast menu are part of the future plans but for now there's a great mix of other dishes on the menu including the delicious prawn linguine and chicken parma. The Cow Burger is an excellent classic beef burger with a crunchy twist - crispy shallots add a really nice texture and flavour. The Nashville Hot is a chicken burger with a real kick, I loved the spiciness. Prices are really reasonable too, at an average of around $17 for a burger with chips."

"I am super impressed with Hungry Cow not only for their hospitality but food and service! Now open during the day and not just dinner, I loved that their new brunch menu is served alongside their already well established burger and parma dinner menu. And talk about a #melbournecheapeats hidden gem of a find that sees all items bar one under $20. The reuben toastie, although not a true reuben, was perfectly toasted and tasted not to heavy on the dressings or the slaw. And there was no hesitation, and even a little excitement in the challenge, to create a one of a kind first when I asked for the brisky burg turned brisky croissant which kicked serious brisket brunch goals! It was loaded, it was creamy with its mix of Russian dressing and onion jam and, against the buttery flavour and fresh crunch of the croissant, it was amazing beyond words. Surprising for me, as I'm not usually one for sweets, I also couldn't get enough of the french toast with its biscoff sauce drizzled over that lemon mascarpone and that thick cut toast with its corn flake crumb. And I loved that the owners, being so approachable and friendly, truly were interested when they asked how was the meal? Ready and willing to take all (if any) criticism on board to truly be a cafe staple in the West."

"@hungrycowau Avondale Heights French Toast, Biscoff Sauce Potato Rosti, Cauliflower Puree Rueben Sandwich Hungry Cow Cafe is a new brunch spot located on Milleara Road in Avondale Heights. At night, it turns into Hungry Cow Grill, offering burgers and meats. Their coffee and chai is by @undercoverorasters, they also do freshly squeezed orange juice and some great smoothies, we loved the Mango Mantra. Everything on the menu is made in house, so they are able to keep the costs down and keep the menu affordable! The Rueben Sandwich used brisket instead of corned beef or pastrami like you would usually see. The brisket itself could’ve been tastier but paired with all of the other ingredients it was a good sandwich! The French Toast had a texturally pleasant, crunchy outer, with a soft fluffy inner. We did sense the egg, which did turn me off a little, but you almost couldn’t taste it through the decadent Biscoff sauce. Our favourite dish of the three was the Potato Rosti, with perfectly poached eggs, chilli oil and a beautiful cauliflower puree. If the Rosti have been crispy, it would’ve been a faultless dish. Overall we were super impressed by the cafe all of the dishes were expertly prepared with only slight improvements to be made. The venue itself could do with some refinement but they only opened last month and this may be on the cards for them. Happy to have a good brunch spot in the area. You can still order burgers during the day, I’ll be doing a separate review on their Grill menu, so stay tuned (spoiler alert - it’s good!) ⭐ 3.8/5 $$"

"Came here with my boyfriend and we shared the mushroom dish (vegan option) and granola. The food was so delicious and beautifully presented. It was incredibly well priced considering the quality of ingredients and amount of food! The matcha was perfectly, not too weak like most places. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back"

"@hungrycowauLocated on Military Road, this popular local gem now is delivering a new brunch & coffee menu, in addition to their burger & grill signature items. Honestly for a casual spot, their food was genuinely of a high standard, quality- absolutely delicious & impressive- with many components of their dishes made in house- comparable to high end cafes! the owners are super friendly! Mushroom Forest $18.50 this was so sophisticated & the best combination of flavours & textures- highly recommend!! Brisky $18- such a picture perfect burger & melt in your mouth beef! Chicken Katsu- Crispy juicy Chicken Large Chips $8+ with their signature sauces - all super good (hc & bbq) Green Machine Smoothie $9 Cappuccino $4 @undercoverroasters"

"This small local cafe has a good selection of breakfast. Daughter had pancakes which was substantial for her. The breakfast burger was also tasty. The potato rosti was good. Cauliflower puree was a good sauce to mop up with the rosti. My only complaint is the poach egg was overdone. Coffee was great too!"

"AV's corner burger joint is back as the Hungry Cow as of the 5th of December, 2022! Don't confuse it for the previous stores that used to be here. Popped by quickly for a take away Cheeseburger as part of their Grand Opening promotion. Staff were super friendly and up for a chat as we waited a little bit for the burger to be ready. Recommend ordering ahead on their website as you can also set a pick up time which minimised the wait. The burger itself was tender and juicy with a soft fluffy bun grilled to perfection, along with a good pickle which wasnt overpowering. Sometimes getting the simple things is enough and Hungry Cow nailed it. Look forward to coming back to try the rest of their menu, especially during their 2 for 1 opening special. Promising burger joint and can't wait to see how they develop as they pick up the ropes. ---- Update: Went back for more! Tried the Korean Chicken Wings, The Brisky Burger and the Crispy Pork Burger! Oh so Delish! The wings were tender, juicy and plump! No skinny chickens here. The Brisky melts in your mouth. Credit to the chefs for 48 slow cook and braise, as it was completely worth it. And lastly the Crispy pork, which in its current form was a little dry. Which the chef sheepishly admits, they forgot to add cheese to the list of ingredients! (Ask to add cheese if you order this one) But more amazingly is the teams attitude, so open to feedback and always aiming to improve. Looking forward seeing how this corner burger cafe develops as they add more to their menu and branch into brunch and beyond! ---- P.S. It's easier to park along Canning St rather than Military Rd."
